Marionette
24×48 · Oil on Canvas
We like to believe our choices belong to us. But most of the time we drift, shaped by ritual, pulled by desire, or softened by distraction. Marionette introduces that first moment of doubt, the quiet question of who is really guiding the movement.

Match Point
24×18 · Oil on Canvas
Play becomes both focus and avoidance, a form of competition that sharpens attention while letting the rest fall out of view.
Venus
24×24 · Oil on Canvas
Beauty becomes a kind of veil, a surface that offers refuge while keeping us from what is asking to be seen.
Red Stripe
12×18 · Oil on Canvas
Ritual becomes comfort, a pattern of small repetitions that holds us gently and keeps the world at a distance.
Poolin'
36×24 · Oil on Canvas
Control becomes a kind of comfort as the shot lines up in a dim bar, a small ritual that steadies the night while everything else stays in the dark.
Want You
34×17 · Oil on Canvas

What Do We Feel?
14×18 · Oil on Canvas Panel
After the scenes of drift, the portraits offer the first still moment. Each one holds a separate emotional answer to the same unspoken question. Together they form a small map of recognition: what we feel once distraction loosens and we finally look back at ourselves.
About Louis Romier
Born in a small village in France and raised in Miami from the age of five, I have always moved between worlds. That early shift sparked a curiosity that fuels my work today—an urge to explore complexity and ask difficult questions. My practice spans painting, photography, woodworking, surfboard design, and beyond, but each piece shares a single aim: to invite pause, provoke thought, and offer a momentary escape from the churn of daily life.
